grief does something heavy to your heart, wraps itself around your eyes and lodges in your throat, so happiness gets tangled in your irises and scratches your pupils and you can’t help but cry as laughter gets caught mid-swallow, stuck in the middle of sadness so thick it etches itself on your smile and rests in the lines of your face.
