things i’d like my dream home to have
- first of all, my dream is a white wooden farmhouse
- a white whicker porch
- a sunroom with wood floor to ceiling windows tall as the walls
- a farmhouse sink and no dishwasher because there’s something about washing dishes by hand that i secretly like
- a red barn, because i am cliche and love the romantiscm of it
- chickens and maybe cows and possibly goats but no pigs
- a long, homemade, wooden table, stained dark brown
- a chalkboard wall in the kitchen
- wood floors to dance on
- a piano and maybe an old one as long as it’s in tune
- windows that catch on fire from the setting sun
- a grove of apple trees to call my orchard
- a raspberry and blueberry and blackberry patches
- a field and a wide open place to see the stars
- a window to the roof that we can sneak out on and watch the sunset
- a fireplace to snuggle by in the winter
- a big willow tree and maple trees to make maple syrup with
- a place to hang a hammock
- bunk beds for my someday children
- a schoolroom slash library to learn in
- window seats in all the bedrooms
- white dishes and wooden bowls
- a huge garden and possibly a greenhouse with an old wooden shed
- mason jars to drink out of
- a small studio in a nook of he house with big windows and walls tacked with photos
- open cabinets and kitchen shelves
- artwork and words hanging on the walls
- lots of homemade, wooden furniture
- a bonfire pit in the back to roast s’mores and hot dogs and campfire by
- a wooden swing on the porch
- copper pots and cast iron skillets and various wonderful cooking items
- wooden walls painted all sorts of colors (grey, white, blue, yellow, green)
- a bed in a window nook
- a yellow or a red or a blue front door
- an island with stools to sit around
- vine trellis’
- only things that we (my family) love — simplicity
- little to no media devices (a room set aside for a TV to watch movies — no cable)
- an attic room
- maybe turquoise chairs in the school room and a white wooden table
- a big cushy couch and fun pillows
- bookshelves
- to be not just a house, but a home.
i know it’s a lot, but it’s my dream home, so it’s okay. :)
I started writing a bit of my story, from since I was little until now, and I’ve found layers after layers after layers of memories and traditions and history that have come flooding back to me in waves and waves of, “remember when…” It’s been overwhelming in the best sort of way, and I’ve cried a little bit as I type the words as fast as I can.
home.
why not.
sometimes
just because. rambles.
sometimes I just want to live in france or italy or new zealand and make pictures and eat good food and write poems and sing outside loudly even thought people might stare. sometimes I want to remember that moment between then and now when everything was okay and I knew deeper than the earth that everything was going to be all right. sometimes I just wish life were simpler and the days were shorter or longer (I can’t decide) and things would be alright. Sometimes all I want is to feel the ocean under my feet and the sky above my head and have the only sound be the wind whistling across the plains and over the trees like a symphony I wish I could understand. sometimes I wonder about what I’m supposed to do and who I’m supposed to be until I remember that I’m just Hannah and I love the here and now of today.
just because. :)
